Achieving Slimmer and Firmer Legs with a Professional Thigh Lift
The amazing thing about plastic surgery is that you can take almost any part of the body, add “plasty” to the end of it, and bingo: there’s a surgical procedure to improve that area and make you look slimmer, toned, and more fit. When it comes to your thighs, that word is “thighplasty.”
At DiGeronimo MD Advanced Plastic Surgery in Doral, Florida, Dr. Ernest M. DiGeronimo offers thigh lifts to make your legs look slimmer, stronger, and more gorgeous than ever. If you wish you could wear shorts and miniskirts but have been hiding your thighs, a thigh lift could be just what you need to regain your self confidence.
Candidates for a thigh lift
You might want a thigh lift if you’ve recently lost weight in your thighs, leaving extra skin to wrinkle and bag unattractively. Or, you could have accumulated a lot of cellulite, leaving your thighs dimpled and lumpy. Maybe the inner surfaces of your thighs rub together and cause uncomfortable chafing and rashes.
Whatever your cause for wanting a thigh lift, Dr. DiGeronimo can help. He consults with you about your desired results, makes sure you understand what’s possible, and explains the possibilities of scarring and the recovery time to you so you can make an informed decision. You’ll need to have been at a steady weight for at least several months before thighplasty.
The thigh lift process
You’ll need to stop smoking at least 4-6 weeks before your thighplasty (ideally, you can use this as a jumping off point to give up tobacco for good.) If you have anemia, diabetes, or certain other health conditions, or take types of medications that can cause excess bleeding, Dr. DiGeronimo will discuss how to prepare properly before your thigh lift.
Your thighplasty will be performed in our office surgery suite or a nearby hospital. The entire procedure takes around 2.5 hours. Afterward, you’ll be encouraged to walk as much as possible, and we’ll see you regularly for wound check visits and to ensure you’re healing properly and that there is no infection.
Expect some scarring, although Dr. DiGeronimo will work hard to minimize visible scars. Avoid any heavy lifting for several weeks after your thighplasty, and call us immediately if you start running a fever, experience swelling and excessive redness, or feel extreme heat in your thighs. We’ll provide antibiotics and pain relief for your recovery, but surgery always comes with risk.
