Which Cosmetic Injectable Is Best for You?

Nonsurgical cosmetic procedures are steadily increasing in popularity, with over one million Americans opting for injectables every year. There are many options to choose from depending on the kind of enhancement you desire. But how do you know which one is best for you?

At DiGeronimo MD Advanced Plastic Surgery, we offer a range of injectables to treat anything from fine lines to thin lips. To help you decide which one is right for you, our team put together a list of all our injectables and which concerns they’re best at targeting. By the end of this blog, you’ll know exactly which one to pick!

Belotero

This injectable distinguishes itself from the others by working with your skin to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. Other fillers are designed to rebuild and restructure. Belotero is a hyaluronic acid injectable that integrates into your skin and adapts to its individuality, leaving you with results that look like you — but younger!

This injectable is great for smoothing out kissing lines and nasolabial folds (wrinkles that run down from the sides of your nose to the corners of your mouth). The results look and feel natural, and are proven to last around six months.

Radiesse

Radiesse is a calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) filler, meaning it contains microscopic calcium particles suspended in a smooth gel. CaHA is naturally occurring and is primarily found in bones. This type of filler has a thicker consistency than hyaluronic acid fillers and tends to last longer.

Part of what makes Radiesse so popular is its ability to stimulate your body’s own collagen production. Upon injection, it immediately lifts and corrects your skin and continues to stimulate collagen production even after the initial effects have decreased. It’s great for restoring facial volume and smoothing out wrinkles. What’s more, it’s FDA-approved for use on hands.

Botox - Dysport - Xeomin procedure

This virtually noninvasive procedure involves a series of small injections to treat facial wrinkles such as forehead lines, crow’s-feet, frown lines, and lip lines. Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin are all purified proteins derived from different strains of Clostridium botulinum type A. They work to block nerve impulses that prompt excessive muscle contractions, which would lead to lines and wrinkles.

By combining the effects of Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin, your doctor is able to take years off of your appearance in a matter of minutes. The muscle-relaxing effect of this treatment lasts between three and 10 months.

Restylane and Perlane

Restylane and Perlane are in the same family and are both hyaluronic acid fillers. They’re used to correct facial lines and wrinkles, and work well for lip enhancements too. The difference between the two is that Perlane has a thicker consistency than Restylane, making it ideal for deeper wrinkles. Restylane is also FDA-approved for use on hands.

Juvéderm

Another hyaluronic acid filler, Juvéderm is great for smoothing out fine facial lines and wrinkles and restoring lost volume. This family of fillers can be used in multiple areas of your face, including your cheeks, chin, and lips. Depending on which area is treated, results can last between one and two years.

Sculptura

Sculptura is a poly-L-lactic acid filler, meaning it’s a synthetic substance that’s biodegradable. Classified as a collagen stimulator, it gradually replaces lost collagen to help restore facial volume. Multiple injections may be needed over the span of a few months. The results look natural and can last up to two years.
