Can Plasma Injections Make Me Look Younger?

Can Plasma Injections Make Me Look Younger?

There are plenty of factors that can make you look older. Sun and wind exposure, a history of acne, rosacea or other skin conditions, a smoking habit, and just years rolling by can all take their toll on the skin of your face.

At DiGeronimo MD Advanced Plastic Surgery in Miami, Florida, Dr. Ernest M. DiGeronimo can provide plasma injections to kickstart your body’s natural regenerative process, helping you look and feel younger.

Plasma Injections 101

Injectable platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a fully biocompatible agent that is created using a sample of your own blood. We do a normal blood draw in our office. While you wait, we centrifuge the blood to separate red and white blood cells from the platelets, which are concentrated in the plasma.

Platelets contain regenerative components known as growth factors. PRP sends out signals to the rest of your body, requesting more growth factors for the injected area to help rebuild and heal damage.

The growth factors initiate the regeneration of critical proteins like collagen and elastin. These act as infrastructure for your skin, serving as an interconnected support system to fill in fine lines and plump out wrinkles.

PRP can deliver amazing results

The benefit of using plasma injections is younger, smoother looking skin. PRP is completely safe to use, and can be injected safely into all areas of your face, including into wrinkles across your forehead, crow’s-feet around your eyes, and laugh lines around your mouth.

Perhaps the most stunning results show up when we inject PRP into the nasolabial folds which run directly from the corner of your nostrils to the corners of your mouth (NLFs). One study of PRP injections into NLFs showed more than a 25% improvement in 14 out of 17 of the patients in the trial.

After your plasma injection

Plasma injection treatment only takes an hour including PRP prepping time. You’ll be able to go back to work, school, or whatever other activities you have planned with little or no side effects.

We use such a fine needle to complete the injection that you’ll barely feel it, and most patients find that at worst they may have some mild redness along the treated lines or wrinkles for a few hours.

A cool compress is typically enough to relieve any minor discomfort. You’ll be able to see results starting just a few weeks after the injections, as collagen and elastic start to fill in your face.
