Liposuction.
Liposuction or Liposculpture surgery involves the contouring removal of stubborn areas of fat that even diet and exercise won’t take away. Liposuction should not be used as a form of weight loss, but rather as a body contouring procedure. Ideal patients are those who are close to their ideal weight but also bulges can be diminished and shapes can be improved in overweight patients.

Liposuction surgery will be performed in our surgical facility providing the utmost safety for our patients. Small areas of liposuction can be done under local anesthesia, however, patients with larger areas will undergo general anesthesia. This will allow Dr. DiGeronimo to have full control of the procedure, enabling him to manipulate certain areas, pain free.
Areas that are lacking fat volume can be injected with the suctioned fat, sculpting the body’s curves. The Brazilian butt lift is an example of how suctioned fat can be added to the buttocks for volume and shape.
Dr. DiGeronimo keeps up to date with the latest technologies in liposuction and offers different techniques suitable for each patients needs. Different techniques offered are: -
Tumescent Liposuction
Wet jet
Vaser Liposuction
Ultrasonic
Liposculpture
Smartlipo
Liposuction can be performed on various areas of the body including:- “Love Handles”
- Around the Breasts
- Abdomen
- Hips
- Lower/Upper Back
- Inner and Outer Thighs
- Arms
- Waist
- Under Chin
- Ankles/Calves
During the initial consultation, Dr. DiGeronimo will evaluate the patient’s goals, medical history, areas of fat accumulation, and elasticity of skin. Liposuction is often combined with other complementary procedures; such as, a Breast Augmentation or a Tummy Tuck. Post pregnancy patients interested in losing that “pooch” in the stomach area often undergo liposuction, however, a tummy tuck may be necessary in such cases where excess skin needs to be removed and muscles require tightening.
Depending on the amount of fat removed, patients tend to feel sore and swollen for a couple of days following the procedure. It is highly recommended that each patient wear a compression garment for 4-6 weeks following the surgery preventing seromas, reducing excessive swelling and fluid collection and shaping of the suctioned areas.
